Ralph Gabbard

Biography

Ralph Gabbard is responsible for the management and supervision of librarians who hold or are eligible for Continuing Status at Fletcher Library. Responsible for leadership and coordination among the Instruction, Web, Collections, and Reference and Research Support Councils to ensure consistency and effectiveness of services. He duties also include developing and expanding innovative services to meet the needs of a growing user base; participation as a member of the Library’s leadership team in strategic planning and implementation, budget and personnel management, and policy development; planning support of new degree programs and campus research initiatives. In addition, he is the lead for ASU Libraries' China initiatives. He has published in the areas of designing collaborative workspaces in the library, hypermedia, and measuring student retention in online line courses. He has presented at numerous national and international conferences including the International Forum on Digital Library (Beijing), the Annual Ubiquitous Computing Conference, and the Annual Conference of Liaoning Province University Library Deans and Directors. He has presented workshops in China and Thailand on various library and information science topics.
