Rebecca Rumbel

Biography

Rebecca is the assistant director for the Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences Digital Education Non-Credit team. She works with Penn State Extension educators and leadership to develop strategy for online courses, and educational and social media videos. She also works with her colleagues in the marketing unit to facilitate the development and launch of digital education products from start to finish. Her areas of expertise include: team leadership and strategy; online learning and pedagogy; curriculum development; team development and facilitation; technical writing and editing; video production; digital copyright; and digital accessibility. 

Rebecca presents regularly at Penn State Extension events. Additionally, she facilitated a presentation and discussion on video effectiveness and best practices at the Pennsylvania 2019 Statewide Conference for Watershed Organizations. In 2023, she presented "Successful Strategies for Producing and Teaching with Video" at the Open edX annual international conference.

Prior to joining the College of Agricultural Sciences in 2015, Rebecca taught English and writing at the elementary, middle, high school, and college levels for 6 years. She also worked in team development and facilitation, environmental education, and adventure programming for over 15 years. Originally from Massachusetts, Rebecca came to Pennsylvania for her Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Park Management from Penn State. She also has a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Penn State.
