Rebecca Frazee

Biography

Dr. Rebecca Vaughan Frazee recently joined the IT Education division at the University of California San Francisco as a Digital Equity Education Analyst. Rebecca is a former faculty member in the Learning Design and Technology program at San Diego State University, School of Journalism and Media Studies where she taught for over 15 years and served as a faculty peer mentor. Since 2015, Rebecca has served as the Director of the Flexible Learning Environments Exchange initiative (FLEXspace.org), managing the FLEXspace.org community and collection, and providing outreach and support to help users at academic institutions worldwide share examples and resources for the planning, design, and evaluation of learning spaces. Rebecca has also worked as an analyst, consultant, instructional designer, coach and lecturer in the areas of educational technology, training and development, research and evaluation, social and digital media analytics, and organizational learning and performance systems. She has extensive experience serving a range of educators and leaders including university faculty, K-12 teachers, and workplace learning professionals across education, business, government, military, and non-profit sectors. She possesses expertise in emergent technologies for learning and support, the design of flexible active learning spaces, needs analysis, research and evaluation, blended and distance learning, instructional design, e-coaching, technology adoption, and performance technology. Dr. Frazee has developed and taught graduate courses in educational technology and learning space design, as well as professional development programs for teachers and workplace learning professionals worldwide, both face-to-face and completely online. She has published articles and book chapters, served as president of two local professional organizations, and presented at national and international conferences. Clients include the California State University System (CSU), San Jose State University, Pearson Learning Solutions, DET/CHE (Directors of Educational Technology/ California Higher Education), State of California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST), NASSCO, the Corporation for National Service, the United States Internal Revenue Service, Applied Materials, Motorola, Fidelity Investments, Deloitte, The Getty Conservation Institute, Prudential Securities, TEC International, and Eli Lilly.     The Flexible Learning Environments eXchange (FLEXspace) is an online resource designed for those in higher education who are considering building or renovating classrooms or other learning venues. It includes a searchable collection of photographs, line drawings, slide decks, floor plans, spec sheets, case studies, research papers, inventories, and videos that describe physical learning spaces.
