Rene Thatcher


Rene Thatcher is the director of services and outreach for Libraries and Information Technology (LIT) at St. Lawrence University. Working with faculty, students, and staff to understand the needs of the modern teaching and learning environment, her role is to ensure collaborative and transparent decision making to foster a consistent and effective technology experience for the entire campus community. Rene oversees many of the services provided by LIT, such as helpdesk and computing support, and the printshop and mail centers. She also directs the educational technologies team and represents LIT interests on many academic affairs and governance committees. St. Lawrence University has been her home for more than 20 years. During this time, she has held a number of positions, including student services coordinator, director of technical services and Co-CIO. She enjoys collaboration both on and off campus and is heavily involved with the New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium fostering collaborations and developing efficiencies across institutions. She is also a member of SIGUCCS and was the conference chair for their 2014 annual conference in Salt Lake City.
