Richard Oravetz

Biography

Richard P. Oravetz received his BS majoring in Business and MS Information Science and from the University of Pittsburgh and pursuing a D.Ed in Administration Policy Studies. Currently he is the manager of the Faculty Instructional Development Lab (FIDL) at the Center for Instructional Development and Distance Education division at the University of Pittsburgh. The FIDL is responsible for the implemention and administration of the Blackboard Course Managment System. He is a former CIO and Senior System Consultant with over 20 years of experience the technology field. In addition has taught a number of computer, business, and math courses at Duquesne University, DeVry University, online Courses at the Art Institute and graduate course in the School of Information at the University of Pittsburgh. Some high level projects that he worked on and contributed at University of Pittsburgh include: Implementation of Oracle Financials, Student Loans System, an Interim Registration system for the Registrar Office, a Third Party Payment System for Student Accounts and Check Processing and Maintenance System for Cahiers Office. He is also President of the John Kollar Slovak Literary and Library Society.
