Richard Pinet

Biography

Richard is the head of the Centre for e-Learning at the University of Ottawa and leads a team made up of instructional designers, web developers and programmers - a unit that is devoted to the development of a variety of innovative and pedagogically sound e-learning resources, tools and courses for both blended and distance environments. Over the last eight years the Centre has won several regional and national awards including – CADE’s Award of Excellence: Innovation and Instructional Design (2007); OPAS' Honorable Mention (2003); CADE’s Prix d'excellence (2004) for a series of online workshops entitled: "L'art de superviser des stagitaires". Richard has served as a board member of the Ontario Council for University Lifelong Learning, and is a founding member of FacultyDevelopment.ca., and is currently Chair of the Ontario Universities e-Learning Group. Richard’s background is in Communication (Media Studies, New Communication Technologies, Organizational Communications and Critical Pedagogy. He has taught at the University of Ottawa, Simon Fraser University, Trent University and the University of Western Sydney.
