Rob Ayres

Biography

Rob Ayres has worked in technology, telecom, and wireless for over sixteen years and has led a wide array of strategic partnering efforts in the public safety, state, local, and education segments. In his current role as a manager for the education solutions practice at AT&T, he is a subject matter expert on how wireless technology can impact educational entities’ core instructional, research, and business processes. He is responsible for building on AT&T’s deep commitment to education by partnering on the delivery of mobility software solutions for higher education and K-12 (K-20) that have a significant, positive impact on value of investment modeling, instructional outcomes, campus safety, and community building & engagement. Prior to joining AT&T, Rob occupied various management positions at several telecom companies like Nextel from 1998 to 2005, and Sprint, from 2006 to 2011. At the latter, he was a key member of the integrated solutions group, where he led strategy efforts around higher education and partner ecosystem development in K-12. He successfully deployed and supported large scale mobile, converged, & infrastructure solutions for a variety of educational institutions utilizing mobile and IP-based services. He has been regularly featured as a speaker at many well-known education industry conferences and seminars, including; Educause (ELI), the Association for Information Technology Professionals in Higher Education (ACUTA), the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN), and many states’ Technology Forums. He has served on ACUTA’s corporate advisory committee and remains involved in formal and informal council throughout the education community.
