Rob Carlsen

Biography

I've worked in the IT industry for 20 years.  Prior to this I was your typical PC gamer who loved to build computers (I still build them with my kids today).  My professional experience ranges from desktop support/engineering, systems administration, security administration (firewalls, AV, DLP, vuln management), NSM analysis, and more.  My strengths leans toward endpoint/configuration management, systems administration, and information security.

From early on I was interested in, and working with, information security.  This trend has persisted in just about every IT role I've ever had.  One of the first security certifications I obtained was a Security+ in 2007 followed by a Checkpoint CCSE that same year.  Most relevent to today though, I am a GIAC certified GCDA (my most recent certification).

I started my higher ed career at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2002 and have continued my higher ed career with Indiana University since 2008.  At both Universities I worked as a desktop engineer and security analyst.  With Indiana University, I've held many roles ranging from desktop engineer, systems administrator, security administrator, compliance analyst, and now as a Lead Security Engineer on the OmniSOC team.
