Biography

Robert Dixon Nov 2012 Robert is the Director of Information Technology at the University of Colorado at Boulder in the department of Housing & Dining Services. Currently he and his team, have built, and deployed a virtual desktop infrastructure to the departmental staff of 500 user workstations. The department runs approximately 155 databases, of which 25 are critical business systems. They manage the Campus ID card operations of 65,000 accounts doing 11 million transactions annually, have an award winning web site doing 3 million in ecommerce with 7 on-line housing applications, manage the security access of 6000 electronic lock system with 280 IP cameras and video servers, and support 7,000 telecom and cable TV media drops. Robert has worked for 32 years in Higher-Ed IT including 11 years at PennState where among other positions he served on President Reagan’s “Brady Commission” that studied the 1987 Market crash. He also assisted in compiling a data history of stock market day-to-day transactions for analysis. Robert has been elected the user group president of two major software companies, received the 2007 national “One CBORD Award”, and the 2002 Service Excellence Award from University of Colorado Staff Council.
