Robert has a 20-year career as a transformational leader helping organizations and individuals increase success at the intersection of technology, healthcare, academics, and business. He has worked as a director at the University of Georgia (UGA); an assistant VP at Miami University (Ohio); and CIO at Armstrong State University.
He is UAB’s Associate VP/deputy CIO and is an adjunct faculty member at the Collat School of Business and the School of Health Professions
He has an BS in cell biology and microbiology with a minor in biochemistry from UGA; an MS in leadership & organizational change from Northern Kentucky University; an MBA with concentration in healthcare administration from Georgia Southern University; and is currently working on his dissertation for a doctorate in healthcare administration at UAB (expected defense September 2020). His research interests are around best practices for systems integration for hospital mergers for quality, cost, and satisfaction.
His personal mission in life is to create a healthy environment where others can reach their full potential to excel at life & contribute positively to humanity.
When the pandemic struck, a university’s central IT organization helped develop a statewide exposure notification app, working in partnership with distributed IT, the state public health agency, and technology companies.
