Biography
Mr. Leonard has over 30 years experience in Information Technology and Software Engineering primarily in the Hi-Tech and Healthcare industries.
Bob is currently at the University of Nevada Reno, School of Medicine as the Director IT, Medicine leading the IT staff supporting the School of Medicine, Division of Health Sciences and the statewide physician practice plan. As the senior IT executive he is developing and executing plans, in concert with University IT, to move UNR Med to the next levels of success.
Bob completed a contract for Ceiba Solutions at the UMASS Medical School reviewing and recommending solutions for a next generation data-layer and associated tools. This environment will utilize and support both clinical data, from the associated hospital system and physicians’ network, and research data from the medical school.
As the CIO, for Harvard Clinical Research Institute, a collaborative Academic Research Organization of the Harvard Medical School and it's affiliated hospitals, and, as part of the executive team, Bob executed on long range business plans. Bob led the introduction of several technologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization in the conduct of clinical trials by leveraging IT.
He has been responsible for technology management on a global scale at Digital Equipment Corporation for the internal IT organization and was the joint creator and Program Manager of the corporate Information Security program.
During that time he was a key technologist in the creation and development of the World Wide data warehouses and associated analysis tools supporting the FP&A and the CFO’s corporate organizations. Also, Bob was part of the HR team that pioneered diversity education for Digital that became a model for Corporations.
Mr. Leonard also has led the software engineering solutions and testing organizations for GTE’s (BBN) CyberTrust division, a PKI hardware and security software vendor following his time at DEC.
