Roddy Austin

Biography

Roddy Austin has worked as a senior executive in information technology in higher education for thirty years at several New York City colleges and universities. He currently serves as the Associate Dean for Information Technology and University Media Services for the Division of Libraries at New York University. Roddy is responsible for Library I.T. services for the NYU Division of Libraries which serves over 50,000 students at NYU across the globe and the Southern Manhattan Library Consortium. He is also responsible for audio visual and related services in University classrooms and oversees NYU-TV and related video production services. He served as the Executive Director of Computing & Network Services for New School University from 1990 until 1998. At NSU, in addition to managing information and network systems, he was a co-project leader for a three year $15 million network & technology infrastructure project to equip University facilities with a high speed campus-area network to serve some 8,000 students/faculty/staff. In Jan. 1998, he started RGA Consulting, Inc., an independent consulting company specializing in a full range of technology services specifically geared for colleges and universities. A few major clients included: School of VISUAL ARTS, The Juilliard School, Bank Street College of Education, Polytechnic University, New School University, City University of New York (CUNY) and Symbol Technologies, Inc. At NYU, Roddy was involved in the design and implementation of Library services and classroom and audio visual technology at new campuses in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., Shanghai, China and other NYU Global programs.

Mr. Austin has completed graduate work at New School University and Pace University in Information Systems and non-profit management and has received extensive training/education in all aspects of Information Systems and audio visual technology.
