Biography
Starting in January of 2021, Dr. Rona Tyger began serving Tulane University's School of Professional Advancement as Director of Online Learning. The 7 years previos, Tyger served as the Director of Academic Technology & Distance Education for Authentic Learning at Dillard University (DEAL), where she developed online and web-enhanced education by generating passion, developing skills, and empowering faculty and staff with for all aspects of web-enhanced and online course development, facilitation, and assessment. She also provided instructional technology support to faculty and students. She led the transition of the entire university to remote teaching and learning in response to the Covid 19 pandemic following Quality Matters emergency remote instruction guidelines and the Online Learning Consortium (OLC) Scorecard.
Tyger is an active member of the Online Learning Consortium (OLC), Quality Matters and served as the Distance Education Sub Committee Chair for the New Orleans Educational Telecommunications Consortium (NOETC), from which she received numerous grants to support the work she has done. She has 20 years of higher education teaching experience, including four years as an Assistant Professor at Armstrong Atlantic State University for the College of Education - The Department of Adult Education and Community Leadership and The Department of Adult and Adolescent Education, teaching both graduate and undergraduate students respectively. She holds an Ed.D. in Curriculum Studies with a concentration in Instructional Technology and a Master of Science in Exercise Science, both degrees from Georgia Southern University. She is a new member of the Association for Professional, Continuing, & Online Education (UPCEA). Dr. Tyger served as an active-duty member of the Georgia Air National Guard as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom and is a proud veteran of a foreign war.
