Ronald Haynes

Biography

Ronald is a University Computer Officer and Regent at the University of Cambridge, based in the University Information Services, with extensive HE IT experience in both the US and UK.  He currently is Relationship Manager for the University’s constituent Colleges, and for the 'non-school' and GLAM institutions, as well as IT Community Development Manager.

Formerly he had been Information Officer in the Computing Service at the University of Bristol (UK), first University Webmaster, and postgraduate researcher in Philosophical Theology.  Prior to that he was a computer consultant and technical journalist/editor in London (UK) and Pittsburgh (US).  Earlier, he briefly was Head of Theology at St Augustine High School (Texas, US).

Active technical research interests include cultural heritage potentials for immersive 3D technologies.  He has presented and published in the area of 3D standards and Augmented Reality use in museums and archives, leads a Darwin 3D project, and co-chairs the IIIF 3D Community Group.  He is a Governor of St. Mary's School (Cambridge), a Trustee of the Eckhart Society, and holds ACM, BCS, Computer Society, IEEE, and UCU membership.
