Blended learning with technology, including mobile devices and multimedia, describe the teaching and research of Ronald Yaros in the Philip Merrill College of Journalism. Dr. Yaros relates this activity to the future of journalism, which needs to better understand how future audiences seek, select, share and comprehend different types of digital information. His new I-series courses, including "Information 3.0," engage students with multiple technologies and custom mobile apps for the iPhone and Android. During each course, he conducts ongoing research of the most effective ways for students to utilize social networks, blogs, and virtual learning environments to produce and interact with content. The experimental lab, "explainmynews.org," probes best practices for using laptops during lectures, and his graduate seminars focus exclusively on new media research. His previous professional experience spans twenty-five years as an Emmy-award winning broadcaster and President of a national education software company.
