Sam Kennedy

Biography

Serves as Director, Technology Support Services for VCU Technology Services at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Area of responsibility includes Campus Card Services (Access/Identification/POS), Desktop Services (Device Management/Executive Support), IT Support Center (Help Desk/Training), Communications & Outreach, Endpoint Computing (Device Management Support & Emergency Notification Services). Joined VCU in 2000 as director of VCUCard and has previously served as assistant director and deputy director for User Services. Previously served as Director of Student Life and Recreation at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. During ten years of service at Randolph-Macon, responsibilities included student activities, fine arts programming, student government, and student organizations as well as management of Brown Campus Center and Brock Sports and Recreation Center. Prior to joining the higher education administration, served as an account executive with College Satellite Network in Irving, Texas. Holds a Masters in Organizational Communications and a Bachelors in Business Administration from Murray State University. Holds an ITIL Foundation Certification in IT Service Management. Served on conference committees, as well as session presenter, for regional student affairs conferences. Member of Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honor society. Served on VCU Appeal Board, VCU Safety Committee, and the VCU Staff Senate. Presenter at Association of Collegiate Computing Services of Virginia conference.
