Sarah Smith

Biography

Sarah Smith is a graduate student and research assistant in the Department of Computer Science at North Carolina State University. She has been a teaching assistant for three and a half years in various computer science courses, and in the spring of 2004 she taught a course: Introduction to Programming: Java. She is currently working on OpenSeminar and AWARE projects. OpenSeminar is an open courseware platform with a repository of information about a subject, which professors can customize for a class. AWARE is a reliability engineering project with the aim of enhancing test-driven development cycles to reduce fault fix time. She is also interested in educational technology and the retention of women and minorities in computer-related fields. As such, Sarah is the president of WICS, the women in computer science organization at NCSU. Sarah completed her Masters of Computer Science and BS in Computer Science at NCSU.
