Sasan Poureetezadi

Biography

Sasan Poureetezadi is Chief Information Officer at the College of Charleston, where he leads technology strategy, digital transformation, and information security to support the institution’s academic mission and operational excellence. With more than 25 years of leadership experience across municipal government, higher education, and non-profit organizations, he has a proven record of advancing innovation, strengthening infrastructure, and building high-performing teams. Previously, he served as Chief Technology Officer for the Town of Gilbert, Arizona, where he directed a $25M technology portfolio supporting over 200 lines of service for 290,000 residents and 2,000 employees, positioning Gilbert as a national leader in smart city innovation, cloud adoption, and cybersecurity. He also served as Chief Strategy Officer for Economic Development and Strategic Partnerships at Maricopa Community Colleges, where he forged collaborations with Amazon and Microsoft to align workforce development with industry demand. Prior to that he served as interim President and Vice President of Information Technology (CIO) at Mesa Community College, where he launched nationally recognized IT initiatives, expanded industry partnerships with Apple, Adobe, and Cisco, and advanced large-scale infrastructure projects exceeding $35M.

Earlier in his career, he also held senior IT leadership roles at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Phoenix, earning awards for innovation and service. Recognized as a Top 100 Technology Professional and recipient of multiple innovation awards, Sasan combines deep technical expertise in AI, cloud, and enterprise systems with a strong track record of strategic planning, organizational leadership, and cross-sector collaboration.

Sasan earned an Associate of Arts from Mesa Community College, a Bachelor of Science from Arizona State University, and a Master of Education from Northern Arizona University.
