Scott Genung

Biography

Scott A. Genung serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee (UWM) where he provides oversight for the strategic delivery of technology and data. Prior to his time at UWM, Scott held a variety of leadership, technical, and instructional roles at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Chicago, University of Oregon, and Illinois State University spanning a career greater than 30 years.

Over his career, Scott has been active within several regional and national organizations including the Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA), IvyPlus, Educause, Internet2, and The Quilt. He has also served on a variety of boards including Vation Ventures, the BTAA CIO Advisory Board for MOR and Associates, the stakeholders board for the Illinois Campus Cluster, the University of Chicago Cyberinfrastructure Alliance, the governaning board for Central Illinois Regional Broadband Network (CIRBN), and the Telecommunications Advisory Board at Illinois State University.

Scott is passionate about digital equity has partnered with colleagues to fund and implement regional broadband infrastructure. These include CIRBN and the Illinois Rural Health Network initiatives.
