Biography

Scott Seaborn is the Campus Privacy Officer at the University of California, Berkeley.   Scott has worked in the privacy and compliance fields for over 20 years, including positions at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office for Civil Rights (OCR); County of Napa; and Genentech, Inc.     While at OCR, Scott was part of the initial investigative team tasked with enforcing HIPAA, when enforcement of the HIPAA Privacy Rule began in the early 2000’s, and he has been passionate about protecting the privacy rights of individuals ever since.  Scott has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from UCLA and Master’s Degree in Pacific International Affairs from the University of California, San Diego.    When not working on privacy or compliance matters, Scott enjoys traveling, especially to Spain and France, and spending time in the Bay Area with his family.
