Semir Sarajlic

Biography

I am a Research Computing & Data (RCD) professional and team builder with 10+ years in higher education, experienced in leading campus-scale HPC/data services, cost-recovery transitions, and cross-institution collaborations. Career highlights include helping steer a data-center relocation and multiple cluster launches at Georgia Tech, co-leading repository and scheduler modernization efforts, and helping deliver millions of CPU hours to researchers nationally. I’ve chaired research faculty searches and promotion committees, built inclusive RCD communities, and led storytelling that connects research impact to institutional strategy. Nationally, I stay active with CASC and CaRCC, supporting RCD professionalization, community building, and responsible AI facilitation. Now, as an Ed.D. candidate at Vanderbilt, I focus on responsible-AI, governance, and research-informed change. Through EDUCAUSE, I’m excited to expand my network and both gain and share actionable insights on organizational policy and governance, especially responsible AI applications for IT and RCD in higher education.
