Seth Shestack

Biography

Seth Shestack is the Deputy CISO at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. In this role, Seth manages the Information Security Strategy on a university wide basis. This includes the management of campus-wide Information Security and compliance efforts including management of the security operations and administration teams.

Security monitoring, alerting, detection, and response are key elements of this strategy, as well as security policy and awareness programs.

Temple uses both defense in depth and data driven approaches to information security and works collaboratively with all constituents in an effort to align data protection with the ongoing mission and business of the university.

Seth has more than Twentyfive years’ experience in networking, data communications, and systems engineering, with an emphasis on Network Security, Security Analysis, Intrusion Detection, Vulnerability Management, Encryption, Perimeter Network / DMZ Design, VPNs, Firewalls and Security Policies and Procedures.

Seth is a frequent conference speaker on topics surrounding the securing of the higher education environment. Previously, Seth founded computer consulting firm, DataSolve in June 1997 and was as an independent security consultant, working with several Fortune 500 companies in the manufacturing, banking, and healthcare markets.
