Biography

Shawndra is currently the Assoicate Director of the Biggio Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning focusing on Learning Experience Design at Auburn University. She manages and directs the Auburn Online unit in which she was formerly the Lead Instructional Designer, coordinating activities for online course design and development. She has been a faculty member in the field of instructional technology, developing and teaching online courses for both undergraduate and graduate level education courses for over a decade. She has also been a university eLearning Coordinator, providing training, facilitating online certification courses, and consulting with university leaders to coordinate and grow online programming efforts. Prior to her work in higher education, Shawndra was a secondary classroom teacher and school technology coordinator. She also worked as an Instructional Technology Specialist for the Alabama State Department of Education conducting site-based training and facilitating online professional development courses. Additionally, she worked in private industry as a Director of Professional Learning, starting and managing the new division for a large regional IT company. A frequent presenter, Shawndra has spoken at numerous conferences including the ISTE, NCPEA, USDLA, ET4Online, EDUCAUSE Southeast Regional Conference, EDUCAUSE Annual Conference, ELI Annual Meeting, UPCEA SOLA+R, and the DLA Conference. Her research interests include curriculum and technology integration, technology professional development, distance learning, with a focus on online as well as one-to-one and mobile technology initiatives. Shawndra holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Public Administration, a Master of Arts in Education in Curriculum & Technology. Currently, she is a doctoral candidate (ABD) in Educational Leadership, Policy and Law working on completing her dissertation in the area of online education policy. She has held certifications as an Alabama Professional Educator, a Certified Quality Matters Peer Reviewer, a Microsoft Certified Application Specialist, a SMART Certified Trainer, an Intel Education Master Instructor and Senior Instructor, as well as an EdTech Leaders Online Certified Online Course Facilitator.
