Biography

Shelly J. Smith is the Director of Advanced Immersive and Media Services for NYU IT Research and Instructional Technology, where she leads the LaGuardia Studio (LGS).

The LaGuardia Studio is a full-service facility featuring advanced Additive Manufacturing, 3D digitization and immersive resources through the LGS service portfolio. The LGS work scope includes 3D printing, 3D scanning and AR/VR project production, with a focus on 3D content development and pipeline support for NYU researchers, faculty and students across research, engineering, biomedical, entrepreneurial, and arts and science scholarly work.

As part of NYU’s Research and Instructional Technology Leadership Team, Shelly drives emerging technology innovation and university strategies in support of the advancement of additive manufacturing and immersive technologies in research, teaching and learning initiatives and collaborative university partnerships.
