Stan Brooks

Biography

Stan Brooks has been employed with Emory University’s Network Communications Division as an RF Engineer since late 2004. Since joining NetCom, He has become better known around campus as the “Wireless Guy”. Over the last 2 years, Stan has taken Emory’s wireless coverage from a handful of APs to in a couple of buildings to a network of over 1500 APs in over 150 buildings across campus – including full coverage in every Residence Hall. In addition to wireless on Emory’s academic network, he also has responsibility for bringing wireless to Emory Healthcare’s hospitals and clinics. Stan has over 6 years of experience in wireless networking & security and 20 years experience in data, voice, and video networking. Prior to his tenure at Emory, Stan has worked for network industry leaders Foundry Networks, 3Com, and Scientific Atlanta, service provider BellSouth, and some tech startups. It’s fitting that Stan is doing wireless today – he began is professional career at Motorola designing 2-way mobile radios. Stan is a member of IEEE and holds the CWNA and CWSP wireless certifications. He also holds a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and Masters degree in Business Administration from Georgia Sate University.
