Until December 2022, Stan North Martin was the senior director of Outreach, Communications & Consulting in the Office of Information Technology at North Carolina State University. The unit provides a variety of support services for the campus community.
Stan is now retired, volunteering with a number of local non-profit organizations and working to develop an intentional neighborhood (aka cohousing) in Eastern Wake County.
While at NC State, along with strong, highly-collaborative teams, Stan helped facilitate the selection and deployment of Google Apps at NC State and chaired the process steering team leading to the university's first campus-wide IT Strategic Plan. He has led efforts around improving and consolidating campus classroom technology and building the campus ResNet service.
Stan was also active as an advisor for a number of Alternative Service Break teams and served as a member of the university’s National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) team, working to educate students and employees about issues of discrimination, harassment, prejudice, and diversity.
Before moving to NC State's central IT group in 1996, Stan worked in Student Affairs for four years as, among other things, the Operations Adviser for the campus student media. Prior to moving to North Carolina for grad school he was employed at Goshen College, working at WGCS-FM and as interim registrar.
