Star Muir

Biography

Dr. Muir is an Associate Professor of Communication at George Mason University, and is currently the Director of Learning Support Services in the Division of Instructional and Technology Support Services (DoIT). Star received his Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Communication from the University of Pittsburgh. His research focuses on environmental communication, and he has published in ETC.: A Review of General Semantics, Philosophy and Rhetoric, and the Speech Communication Teacher. He is co-editor of Earthtalk: Communication Empowerment for Environmental Action. His work on distance delivery of video modules won several Communicator and Telly awards for educational programming. As the current Director of the Student Technology Assistance and Resources (STAR) Center, the Instructional Resource Center (IRC), the Mason Media Lab (MML) and the Center for Training in Office and Productivity Skills (TOPS) at GMU, he is responsible for providing students, staff and faculty with information technology resources and training to accomplish their career and educational goals.
