Sue Maberry

Biography

Sue Maberry has been the Director of the Library since 1992. As a librarian, she has worked to embed information literacy instruction within the Liberal Arts and Sciences curriculum. In 2000, she took on the additional responsibility of directing instructional technology initiatives for the College. In this capacity, she has received several grants for projects including the digitization of the Artists’ Books Special Collection and the development of the Art History Teaching Image Bank. Otis faculty now all use digital images for teaching rather than slides. In 2005, she secured a large foundation grant to develop a new Teaching/Learning Center for Otis Faculty which won a “Centers of Excellence” Award in 2007 from the New Media Consortium. Through the program, faculty receive just-in-time assistance, workshops, and support to incorporate technology within their courses as well as to consider the pedagogy involved. As a result, technologies such as electronic portfolios, a learning management system, podcasting, YouTube videos, learning objects, blogs, and wikis are becoming common place at Otis. Sue holds a MLS from San Jose State University and a BA from Pitzer College.
