Biography
Susan serves as the Chief Privacy Officer at Yale University, responsible for all aspects of privacy compliance, ensuring a culture mindful of the ethical responsibility inherent in managing personal data entrusted to the University. Previously Susan served as the Chief HIPAA Privacy Officer with oversight for HIPAA compliance in the University’s health plan and the healthcare activities. Susan has also served as the Director and Vice Chair of the social and behavioral science IRB and co-directed the University’s successful human research protection program accreditation project. Susan began her Yale career in 1996 in sponsored research administration. Susan holds a Ph.D. in biology from Brandeis University, a BS from Lafayette College and is certified in health privacy compliance. She is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals and the AAMC Compliance Officer Forum.
