Susan Hyer

Biography

Susan Hyer is Assistant Vice President of Computer Services - Academic Computing at Temple University. She joined Temple’s Computer and Information Services department in December 1986. Prior to her role as AVP, Ms. Hyer worked in several information technology (IT) positions at the university as Director, Associate Director, Assistant Director, Manager, Technology Planning Consultant, Computer Lab Coordinator and Instructor. In her current role as AVP, Ms. Hyer oversees university-wide academic applications and strategic planning initiatives, technology support services for university campuses, schools/colleges and departments, technology accessibility services, and acts as the principal administrator for classroom technology support. Throughout her Temple career, Ms. Hyer led and participated in the development of many teaching and learning initiatives, university-wide building projects incorporating innovative labs, classrooms/learning and meeting spaces, and partook on numerous technology committees. She currently chairs the Blackboard and Canvas Advisory Group, the Learning Management System (LMS) Selection Committee, the Accessible Technology Compliance Committee (ATCC) at Temple University, and is a representative of many other groups and organizations.

Ms. Hyer received her M.Ed. in Computer Science from Beaver College (now Arcadia University) and a dual B.S. degree from Pennsylvania State University in K-12 Education of Exceptional Children and K-6 Elementary Education.
