
Ted Hanss
Biography
Ted Hanss is Chief Information Officer for the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. LSA is the largest college at U-M, with over 22,000 students and 3,000 faculty and staff across its 41 academic departments. Previously Ted was Health Sciences Chief Information Officer at Yale University and, before that, CIO of the University of Michigan Medical School. Ted spent eight years as the director of applications development for the Internet2 consortium. Before Internet2, Ted served for several years as a senior manager in the University of Michigan's Information Technology Division. Ted has a BS in Biology from Boston College, an MBA from the University of Michigan, and an MA in Information Science also from the University of Michigan. He has a lecturer appointment in the University of Michigan School of Public Health, where he teaches health informatics. His primary research focus has been on the science of collaboration, particularly between institutions in developed and developing countries.
