Theresa Szczurek, Ph.D.

Biography

Theresa Szczurek served in the Governor’s cabinet as State of Colorado Chief Information Officer and Executive Director of the Governor's Office of Information Technology. As State CIO, Theresa led the launch of the historic Colorado Digital ID™ in the myColorado® mobile app, which won the 2020 NASCIO Innovation Award. In addition, she led the overhaul of the state's IT procurement and contracting process, all while managing a $400M+ financial budget and 1,000 staff to support agencies and the residents they serve. 

She is the co-founder of three tech ventures, including Radish Systems, a Certified Management Consultant®, author of the Amazon-bestseller, Pursuit of Passionate Purpose (Wiley), and publisher of the e-newsletter Szczurek Success Strategies. Also as a Certified Board Director (NACD.DC), she is a Trustee of Western Colorado University and past Chair of the Statewide Internet Portal Authority (SIPA). 

She has a Ph.D. and MBA in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing and Organization Development from University of Colorado Boulder, MS in Operations Research from Stanford University, and a BS in Mathematics from Western Illinois University. 

She lives in Boulder, CO with her husband Richard. They have one daughter. She is a long-time meditator and an avid outdoors person who loves to hike to the top of mountains.
