Tom Oster

Biography

Tom Oster is Support Specialist III at Rice University, where he has been since 1998. Involved in academic IT since the mid-1980's, his interests include using new media to augment and support both academic and IT aims. Recent projects include podcasting IT information and supporting Second Life users and development. Past projects include web development at Baylor College of Medicine (beginning in 1994) for Medical Spanish instruction and the first website for NSBRI (the National Space Biomedical Research Institute). These included the integration of audio and video into the program narrative. The mid-90's also involved Tom in the execution of a web-based medical teleconference between Houston and Moscow.
