Tom Kemp


In Tom's role as Executive Director of Online and Academic Technology, to oversees all technical aspects, college marketing & engagement and SARA reciprocity of the online learning environment for faculty and students at Cuyahoga Community College.

Tom sits on multiple committees for Cuyahoga Community College:

o Distance Learning Steering Committee (Co-Chair)o Online Access Taskforce (Co-Chair)o Technology Steering Committeeo Technology Governance Committeeo Textbook Affordability Committee

Toms wide range of expertise covers, medical simulation technology, all synchronous and asynchronous instructional technology including, Backboard Learn, Canvas and Moodle LMS technology, Quality Matters, video conferencing and lecture capture, classroom management and control technology, architectural campus classroom design & engineering, and audio-visual services. Tom has been on the Extron Technology Advisory Counsel, Sonic Foundry's Mediasite User Group, and sits on multiple off campus technology committees for, NEOUCOM/NEOMED, Ohio Learning Network, and OAR Net.

Tom was formerly the Vice President of Higher Learning Technology LLC in charge of product development and instructional engineering for medical and higher learning applications, Director of Instructional Technology and Learning Management at Ashland University, Manager of Distance Learning and Technology Enhanced Educational Facilities at Cleveland State University and Manager of Distributed Education for the University of Akron. Tom received his Master’s in Educational Technology from the University of Akron along with a Bachelor’s in Mass Media and Associates Degree in Entrepreneurial Business.

Prior to working in Higher Education, Tom taught vocational business to seniors and juniors at Highland High School in Medina Ohio. Prior to teaching at Highland, Tom worked in Radio and television for over 7 years at various radio and television stations. Tom has also worked in sales for Summit Racing Equipment, and Diversey Corp.

Tom is a proud veteran of the US Army and served during operation Desert Storm.
