Thomas Rains


Thomas (TJ) Rains was appointed to the role of Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer at Lindenwood University in August of 2015. In this role, TJ is responsible for leading the Information Technology team in delivering relevant, well managed IT services to the faculty, staff and students of Lindenwood University. Serving on the Presidents Council, TJ works collaboratively with institutional leadership to ensure proper alignment between technology strategic/operational plans and university strategic goals/objectives. Prior to his appointment at Lindenwood University, TJ served as Vice President for Information Services/Chief Information Officer at Cardinal Stritch University from September 2010 - August 2015. In this role, TJ held responsibility for leading the Office of Information Services in providing relevant and well managed IT, Data Management, Institutional Effectiveness and Library/Learning Services to the Stritch community. In 2012, TJ was appointed Cardinal Stritch University's first Chief Transformation Officer, responsible for leading transformational institution change across University operations. Prior to his arrival at Stritch, Rains served as the associate chief information officer for enterprise systems and project management at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas. TJ has considerable strategic & operational planning and budgeting experience, and is a certified project management professional (PMP). T.J. also holds a Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) and Bachelors of Science in Business.
