Tim Flanagan

Biography

Timothy J. Flanagan is Associate General Counsel for the University of Notre Dame, where he provides general legal representation for the University, focusing his practice primarily on intellectual property issues, including copyright, patent, and trademark protection and licensing; information technology and privacy law concerns; contract matters; environmental matters; and litigation. He is licensed to practice law before the State and Federal Courts of Indiana. Mr. Flanagan is also a Concurrent Assistant Professor of Law at Notre Dame Law School and has been a frequent invited speaker on various topics of technology-related law. Previous to his current position, Mr. Flanagan served the University as the Associate Director for Research Development in the Office of Research, where he managed the legal protection and commercialization of the technologies developed through Notre Dame's research. Before his professional career at Notre Dame, Mr. Flanagan worked as a private consultant to the United States government in environmental and radioactive waste management issues, and he also served as an officer in the United States Navy's nuclear power program. Mr. Flanagan is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, having earned degrees in Electrical Engineering, with honors, and Law, with high honors.
