Tom Hapgood grew up on the banks of the Sudbury River outside of Boston, Massachusetts, before moving to the deserts of southeastern Arizona. He then went on to live in Karlsruhe, Germany for five years, and then earned a degree in photojournalism from the University of Arizona in Tucson. After living in central Italy for two years, he worked in the print and Web design fields and earned his M.F.A. in Visual Communication from the University of Arizona. Before coming to teach interactive design at the University of Arkansas in 2005, Tom worked in a Digital Arts research and development lab at the University of Arizona and taught there in the School of Art. Tom's work has involved art direction and chief architect of a university web-based web art gallery, a university fine arts ePortfolio, a university outcomes assessment gathering tool and a college online admissions materials gathering software.
