Biography

Tom Wood is the Director of IT Operations at Texas A&M University, where he oversees enterprise support, infrastructure, and technology-procurement strategy for more than 74,000 students and 10,000 employees. With 20 years of leadership experience, ranging from disaster-recovery engineering to vendor-risk governance, Tom is known for delivering large-scale projects that cut costs while improving service quality.

Most recently he led the launch of TechHub, a campus-wide, one-stop procurement program that standardizes device vetting, hardening, and delivery; the initiative has been spotlighted by the university’s Strategic Initiatives office and is projected to accelerate adoption of secure technology across all colleges.

Earlier roles include IT Provisioning & Procurement Manager for Texas A&M AgriLife and Project & Services Manager at HPC consultancy X-ISS, where he guided multi-million-dollar server deployments for research clients.

Tom’s commitment to operational excellence has earned campus recognition: his team received the “Fortitudine Vincimus” award for resilience and cross-unit collaboration during a critical service-modernization effort.

He holds multiple industry certifications, serves on Texas A&M’s IT Governance Council, and mentors early-career technologists through the university’s Staff Development Program.
