Biography

Now serving at the President for Lone Star College - CyFair, Valerie Jones joined Lone Star College in 2019 as the associate vice chancellor for academic affairs. She previously served as the vice president for instruction at Odessa College, during which time they were awarded the Aspen Institute Rising Star Award in 2017 and 2019, and the 2018 Achieving the Dream Leah Meyer Austin Award for transformative student success outcomes.

Her ongoing dedication to equitable outcomes for college students continues to be demonstrated in leadership of the design and implementation of LSC’s Commitment to Online Resources and Equity focused on eliminating disparities by modality and race/ethnicity in key online gateway courses across all LSC campuses. Dr. Jones previously served the community college students of North Carolina for 15 years where her passion for community college students began as English faculty.
