Vivian Forssman

Biography

Vivian is currently Program Manager for a knowledge mobilization project focused on training and development for working professionals, to accelerate action on climate change adaptation. This project is led by the ResiliencebyDesign Lab at Royal Roads University, and involves capacity and learning community building in collaboration with 6 other BC post-secondary institutions and many professional associations. Her recent career focus has been on consulting assignments which support learning technology strategy and transformation in higher education (e.g. the Canadian National Survey on Online and Digital Learning; eCampusOntario Shared Services Survey).

Vivian has held leadership roles in curriculum and technology at several Canadian post-secondary institutions. She was Director of Centre for Teaching and Educational Technologies at Royal Roads University (Victoria, BC); Director, Learning and Technology Services at UBC Sauder School of Business (Vancouver, BC), Director, Centre for Instructional Technology and Development, at SAIT Polytechnic (Calgary, Alberta); and Associate Director, Information Technology Services, at BC Institute of Technology (Burnaby, BC). 

Vivian has taught project management, knowledge management, experiential learning, and e-business topics in various post-secondary programs. She holds a Masters’ in Business Administration from the University of Cape Town, and worked on (but did not complete) a PhD at Simon Fraser University's School of Interactive Arts and Technology, where she focusd her research on adoption and diffusion of learning technologies in higher education and the impacts of technology on learning institution culture.
