Todd Watson

Biography

Dr. Todd Watson is Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Security Officer for the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, the governing and management authority for Georgia public higher education institutions, the Georgia Archives, the Georgia Public Library System and the Georgia Film Institute. He manages the USG Cybersecurity program for 120,000 employees and 360,000 students of the University System.

In his 40-year career, Dr. Watson has aligned cybersecurity and technology efforts to business interests at Hitachi Semiconductor, ADP, TCA Communications, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and as president of his own firm, Computer Engineering Associates. He developed several cryptographic systems, one of which was in continuous commercial use for more than 20 years. Dr. Watson also teaches cybersecurity, technology, and public management courses as an adjunct professor.

He holds a Doctorate in Public Policy and Administration, a Master of Science in Computer Science with a concentration in Information Assurance, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. He is a CISSP, an active member of EDUCAUSE, InfraGard, the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the American Society for Public Administration. Dr. Watson speaks at selected events and has authored numerous articles and policy papers intent upon maturing technology governance within the public and private sectors.
