Bill Bateman

Biography

I am proud to be a part of the Center for Instructional Support at Southern Oregon University. I will be working with Instructional Design and Moodle Support in my new position, and I am excited to be in Ashland at SOU. I am currently leading and supporting several campus projects as well as working with faculty on Curriculum re design as part of the the Curriculum Redesign Academy (CDA) team.

Formerly the LMS (Moodle)Specialist at Humboldt (HSU) , providing faculty training, creating support materials and developing distance and hybrid classes. Lead the development of the new 2.8 Version update that went live on schedule June 1, 2015.

Featured presenter with the HSU Distance Learning Seminar in July 11, gave a 2 day Instructional Design Seminar in Texas in May of 2014, and presenter at the Humboldt County Office of Educations' SHIFT Symposium in June 2013. I also do consulting on Moodle, Training and Instructional Design. While at the University of Portland, I co developed the Academic Technology Program.

I've worked in Education as a teacher of English, (Writing and Literature) as well as Computer Technology for a total of 25 years. I was the Technical Editor of "Moodle for Dummies" by Wiley Press. Additionally,I'm experienced in broadcasting as a journalist and as a V.O. artist.

In my free time I ride long distance bicycle events, write mysteries,plays, loves photography and I'm learning Blues guitar. I have been observed using magic in Workshops but will deny it if asked. I've published numerous technology related articles both on the web and in magazines,presented at numerous conferences and has been awarded a Fellowship to the South Coast Writing Project at UCSB.
