Biography

I am Professor and Director of the Smart, Healthy Community Initiative — an interdisciplinary initiative at the University of Illinois. We build ROKWIRE, an open-source platform for mobile devices to enable the smart, healthy campuses and communities of tomorrow.  

Rokwire exist to enhance human capabilities — to create healthier, safer, more equitable, sustainable places; foster better decision-making; and fuel innovation for all members of our community. 

Our open-source platform combines multiple streams of data and sensor technologies and integrates that information through artificial intelligence to present user personalized, up to the minute support for meeting their goals. 

Our approach to privacy is revolutionary. Users set privacy and corresponding functionality in the App at levels they prefer. And we keep only the data they permit us to keep.
