Biography
Win Shih's professional growth has traversed several library functional areas. He
has more than ten years experience in managing library technology divisions in both
academic and health sciences libraries. After receiving his Master degrees in Library and
Information Sciences and Business Administration from University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign, Win started as a business reference librarian at Saint Louis University
and performed reference service, collection development, faculty liaison, and library
instruction for six years. Later he coordinated library units in developing the library's
first website and acquired his Microsoft Certified System Engineer credential. At the
Heath Sciences Library of University of Colorado, Win oversaw the Technical Services and
Systems division and developed a full understanding of the process and workflow of
acquisition, cataloging, authority control, and serials management. Currently, Win serves
as the Director of Integrated Library Systems at University of Southern California.
Win has presented at various national and international conferences, including the IFLA
Conference (2006 and 2008), American Library Association, Library & Information
Technology Association National Forums (2007 and 2006), and International Evidence Based
Librarianship Conference (2005 and 2007).
